Founded in 2008, ABC Waste Management offers a range of waste management services including skip hire, hazards disposal, sorting and baling to both commercial and residential customers in and around Portadown, Northern Ireland.
Knowing that durability counts, choosing JCB was as easy as ABC. The company has invested heavily and runs a JCB 560-80 Wastemaster Loadall - specifically designed for the waste industry - as well as a JCB TM320 Wastemaster, a JCB JS20MH wheeled material handler and JCB 150X tracked excavator. Most recently it has added one of the first JCB Hydradig 110W Plus wheeled excavators in Northern Ireland to its fleet.
ABC Waste Management has wasted no time putting the Hydradig Plus to use on its busy waste management site where it is already proving a winner owing to its versatility and manoeuvrability.
A big plus
On a busy waste management site where time is money and space is at a premium, you need machinery that can get the job done quickly, safely and efficiently. By choosing a single machine that can handle multiple tasks you can save valuable time and money by not having to run, or switch between, several machines.
One such versatile workhorse is the JCB Hydradig 110W Plus wheeled excavator. It boasts best-in-class machine stability allowing the machine to be fitted with an extensive range of attachments to tackle a multitude of jobs.
ABC Waste Management Managing Director Bobby Jameson said: “One of the biggest plusses of the new Hydradig is the versatility – in a single day it may bale cardboard, work on our picking line and clean up the yard. The new model’s ability to handle material, dig and travel at speed means there is no limit to the number of jobs it can do. Everything has been well thought through so it can do many different tasks, powering multiple attachments."
"Health and safety was also one of the main reasons for choosing the Hydradig Plus. The 360° visibility means the driver can see anyone standing behind him as he can see all around the machine. The manoeuvrability is excellent too, the machine can move all around the yard with ease. Our operator is over the moon with it, and he’s been keeping it in tip top condition. The heated seats are proving useful in this winter weather too. Overall, we're really impressed with it."
The JCB Hydradig Plus is powered by a Stage V compliant EcoMAX diesel engine, delivering 81kW. This drives through a hydrostatic transmission. With an operating weight of 11-13 tonnes, depending on specification, the Hydradig provides a maximum roading speed of 40kph, making it easy to transfer between work sites. With the engine mounted in the lower chassis, the operator has a clear line of sight all around the machine. Low level glazing allows the operator to see all four wheels for added site safety. Positioning the engine on the side of the chassis also delivers unrestricted access for repair and maintenance, while 500-hour service intervals deliver maximum uptime
The chassis-mounted engine and transmission gives the Hydradig Plus an unparalleled low centre of gravity, for maximum stability when travelling or working. With a maximum lift capacity of 3,182kg, the machine is capable of lifting more than 1,400kg over the front and 1,000kg to either side.
The perfect team
To ensure the smooth running of a busy waste management site you need machines which work seamlessly together which is why ABC Waste Management Managing Director Bobby Jameson runs an all JCB fleet of complementary machines which have been specified for the waste sector, including a JCB 560-80 Wastemaster Loadall which is purpose-built specifically for waste management sites.
