What is the difference between a backhoe and a loader?

The loader is located at the front of the machine and is designed to carry large quantities of materials with ease. It can undertake many applications such as loading, dozing, digging, grading, grabbing and spreading using the 6-in-1 shovel.

The backhoe is an excavator arm which is located at the rear of the machine. This means the backhoe loader is three machines in one: excavator, loader, and tractor, which enables it to travel on the road.

Why is it called a backhoe loader?

This is a unique machine which has two key functions; the backhoe refers to the hydraulic excavator arm and hinged bucket mounted on the rear of the machine. The machine is also equipped with a regular loading shovel at the front of the machine, hence being called the "backhoe loader".

How many JCB factories are there?

There are 22 factories in total around the world that make all the different types of JCB machines, engines and attachments.

When was JCB founded?

JCB was founded on October 23rd, 1945 by the late Joseph Cyril Bamford in a tiny lock-up garage in the Staffordshire market town of Uttoxeter in the UK.

What does JCB stand for?

JCB stands for Joseph Cyril Bamford.

Can you dig with a loader bucket?

Our JCB loader buckets are primarily designed for loading purposes. The JCB loader buckets include the front loader bucket, wheel loader bucket, and backhoe loader bucket. However, our 6-in-1 bucket range for backhoe loaders, Loadalls and skid steer loaders also comes with digging capabilities.

This means the range is suitable for 6 applications, including dozing, loading, digging, grabbing, spreading and grading.

What is a bucket loader used for?

Made up of a tractor with a shovel or bucket, JCB loader buckets are primarily used in the construction sector for any activity that requires loading, moving and managing materials such as soil or rocks or waste.

However, our 6-in-1 loading JCB buckets are also capable of dozing, loading, digging, grabbing, spreading and grading.

How much does a loader bucket hold?

JCB attachments offer a range of loader buckets for more efficient digging, better material retention, and clean release of material to improve productivity and maximise the performance of your machine.

JCB loader buckets come in a large variety of capacities depending on the machine and attachment size. Please refer to the JCB attachments guide for specific details on front loader bucket capacity, wheel loader bucket capacity, and backhoe loader bucket capacity.

How does a vibratory roller work?

A vibratory roller has an eccentric vibrator shaft inside the drum that gets rotated when it moves. This produces a centrifugal force which makes the drum move and vibrate, causing vertical and horizontal vibrations which put dynamic loads on the soil. While the vertical vibrations cause the soil particles to rearrange and fill the voids, the horizontal vibrations increase the lateral movement of the soil, resulting in compaction depth.

Why are JCB machines yellow?

JCB machines are almost always yellow mainly for safety reasons. On a building site or quarry, you are more likely to see a machine which is yellow than any other colour. Some customers do prefer their own colour machines and the second most common JCB colour machines are green followed by red.
