A team of employees from Savannah-based JCB North America, the world’s largest privately owned heavy equipment manufacturer, today visited the Lady Bamford Center Christmas in West Savannah to help celebrate the annual Lady Bamford Center Christmas Extravaganza.

To kick off the event, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in a special JCB sleigh powered by a JCB 3CX backhoe loader. Santa, Mrs. Claus and a number of elves, portrayed by JCB staff, presented each child with a gift provided by the company. The event also included story-time with Santa and Christmas carols sung by the Lady Bamford Center children.

“To see the excitement on the faces of the children as Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive is one of the highlights of the year for the JCB team,” said Thom Peebles, Vice President of Marketing for JCB North America. “The opportunity to contribute to happy holiday memories for these children is what the Christmas season is all about.”

Operated by Wesley Community Centers of Savannah, the Lady Bamford Center provides education and social skills development to children from six weeks to five years of age. Located at 1410 Richard Street in West Savannah, the facility offers priority admission to children from homeless and low-income families, as well as children with physical, mental or emotional challenges. Its interactive curriculum prepares young children for kindergarten and elementary school and helps them compete with other children academically.
