What are the different types of vibratory rollers?

There are several different types of vibratory rollers. Read on to find out more.

There are several different types of vibratory rollers, for example:

Single drum soil compactors

Single drum soil compactors are compact but sturdy pieces of equipment with one large drum mounted at the front end and tyres at the rear designed to enable the machine to move across various terrains easily and comfortably. Due to their compact size, these are extremly versatile machines designed to prepare surfaces before construction work.

Tandem rollers

Tandem rollers differ from single drum compactors because they have two drums, one in the front and one in the back. As a result, they're designed to compact area, not volume. The two drums moving moves the roller, meaning they can compact a lot of ground extremely quickly. This means they're ideal for compacting asphalt and are designed to compact area, not volume.

DD walk behinds

From 500 to 1,000kg, double drum walk behind rollers are a type of tandem roller with a guide bar to walk behind. What makes them unique is their compact size, which makes them ideal for light soil and asphalt jobs.

SD walk behinds

From 200 to 500kg, single drum walk behind rollers are a smaller single drum soil compactors with a guide bar to walk behind. This also makes them ideal for very light soil and asphalt jobs.

Trench rollers

From 1.5 to 3 ton, trench rollers are sometimes known as multipurpose rollers due to their capacity for maximum productivity on different types of soils. These machines are small soil compactors with remote control operation to enable you to compact safely in trenches.

Combis

From 1.5 to 11 ton, combination rollers, or combi rollers, use vibration motion from the smooth front vibratory steel drum and the finishing ability of rear smooth tyres for both asphalt compaction and surface kneading. This means they provide double the power in one machine.
