JCB helps charity with its ‘lifeline’ drive for elderly residents
An award-winning Wrexham charity is continuing to help elderly residents access its vital community hub - thanks to support from JCB.
The digger giant – which has two factories in Wrexham - has donated £500 to help The Rainbow Foundation meet its £20,000 target for a much-needed new minibus.
The vehicle is providing a vital transport link to its two wellbeing hubs in Penley and Marchwiel. The hubs aim to reduce loneliness and isolation in older people by providing access to support services and facilities such as homecooked meals, day care, lunch clubs, community exercise classes and outreach programmes.
The charity used to have four vehicles in constant use but now only has two ‘reliable’ vehicles left and desperately needed the additional minibus to keep the community lifeline running supporting hundreds of residents with much needed social and wellbeing services.
With diminishing transport links due to funding cuts, it is the most vulnerable in our communities that are being impacted. Kind donations like that from JCB are making a real difference in our community providing a freedom and level of independence which would otherwise be out of reach for many elderly residents.
