Competence Scheme Ticket with JCB Pothole Pro
JCB is dedicated to helping you unlock the full potential of the JCB Pothole Pro. That’s why we provide training and familiarisation of the machine, empowering your team to deliver superior road maintenance.
We offer complimentary training for two operators with every Pothole Pro, so they can obtain a CPCS wheeled excavator ticket. On the course, they’ll learn the practical and theoretical knowledge needed to operate the machine safely and efficiently.
Let’s get into more about CPCS and how JCB will support you throughout.
The importance of the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS)
So, what is a CPCS certification and what does it mean for operators? The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) is a national training and accreditation program for plant operators in the UK construction industry. The CPCS Ticket is a card scheme specifically for wheeled excavators greater than 10 tonnes, demonstrating an operator’s skills, knowledge and competency in operating various types of plant machinery.
A CPCS Digger Ticket is widely recognised as the preferred Skills Card of the construction plant industry, and having one helps employers ensure they are hiring competent and safe plant operators.
The Benefits of CPCS Digger Ticket with JCB Pothole Pro
The CPCS digger ticket cost is included in your purchase of the JCB Pothole Pro, so it’s easy for you to train operators and get the most out of your machine. But there’s plenty of other benefits to completing your training with JCB
- First-hand JCB training from experts
- Reduced onboarding time and full confidence in operators
- Ongoing support and check-ins from JCB after delivery
- Faster rollout and better repairs from trained operators
- Better health and safety from fast and accurate training
- Practical and theoretical knowledge that operators can implement straightaway
The support from JCB doesn’t stop once a machine operative ticket has been gained – we then offer machine familiarisation, which will get your operators hands on the machine in their own working environment. Operators will take on their own road repairs while being assisted by one of our JCB operators, helping them maximise their productivity and increase their safety awareness.
Our Pothole Pro process
Once we have the confirmed order from you and the machine is in build, there is a process we follow to ensure your operators are trained as soon as possible.
- We’ll ask for the details of the 2 nominated operators. This includes their name, address, other basic personal information and any current tickets they hold.
- We’ll then look for a training provider reasonably close to your address.
- Training is booked and paid for by JCB as part of the purchase of the Pothole Pro.
- Once the training is completed, the CPCS Digger Ticket will be posted to the operator’s home address.
- Once the machine is delivered to your address, we’ll follow up with on-site and on-job training, which usually lasts 3-5 days. The support is ongoing, so we’ll also periodically follow up to check on operator competency and skills.

Paul Ray, Specialist Plant Operator, went through JCB training and is now a fully qualified Pothole Pro Operator at Scottish Borders Council.
“The training from JCB was excellent! It enabled me to get familiar with the controls of the machine and obtain my CPA. I can now get the most out of the Pothole Pro and if I need any help, the JCB team are only ever a phone call away.”
