JCB and Stoke-on-Trent City Council won the Judges Merit Award and were also highly commended in the Safety and Innovation Project of The Year category at the annual Institute of Highways Engineering (IHE) Mercia Branch awards.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is celebrating a major milestone in its mission to fix potholes quickly and permanently - after completing almost three years of repairs in just over four months with the JCB's revolutionary Pothole Pro machine. 

The forward-thinking authority has repaired a staggering 10,000m² of road with the JCB Pothole Pro in just 130 days - an equivalent to eight Olympic sized swimming pools. Using traditional methods, this task would have taken a staggering 1,040 days or almost three years.

Northumberland County Council has invested in a JCB Pothole Pro to help keep the county's roads running smoothly. 

It has brought the machine following a successful trial of the rapid road repairer. The Pothole Pro was put through its paces by the council last summer and will now help maintain some of the county's 3,000+ miles of roads.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has become the first authority in the UK to take delivery of one of JCB's revolutionary Pothole Pro machines. 

The machine, which can repair potholes four times quicker than standard methods, was launched by JCB earlier this year and the council has played a key part in its testing. The council's machine was handed over to the Deputy Leader Councillor Daniel Jellyman at JCB World Headquarters.
