How do you perform the manual regen process?
There is a sequence wise process to perform the manual REGEN in the machine once you miss the auto-regen process. More details on this process can be found below - just click the link to visit the dedicated page.
Which JCB machines are exempted from Stage 5 regulations?
All metal tracked or crawler-based machines such as excavators are exempted from Stage 5 regulations.
What is the service / repair / replacement schedule of DPF?
DPF is not a filter to replace, once the DPF is filled it can be cleaned by doing the regeneration process. In short we call it as REGEN.
Generally, the DPF does not need to be replaced unless it has suffered extreme damage or it will not clean well at all. However, it can be cleaned by burning up the soot build-up through a process called regeneration, high temperatures does the trick. Maintenance, like proper REGEN cycles being performed, and ensuring that no blockages occur help prolong the life of the DPF.
What is the impact of India Stage 5 regulation?
The regulation applies to engines of any ignition system and any fuel, irrespective if they are variable speed wheeled construction equipment. This regulation implies to all wheeled construction equipment powered by diesel/ gasoline engine with net power more than 19kW.
What is REGEN and how is it connected and required to meet Stage 5 regulations?
Regeneration (REGEN) is the process of burning off the accumulated soot from Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) to prevent it from clogging.
Depending on the working conditions and environmental conditions in which the machine is used, REGEN removes carbon particles (soot):
- During the normal duty cycle of the machine.
- By adding additional fuel via post injection into the combustion cycle to elevate exhaust temperatures and burn off the soot.
The frequency of REGEN will depend on factors like machine duty cycle, engine run time, number of interrupted REGENs and environmental conditions which helps to achieve Stage 5 prescribed norms from diesel exhaust.
What is DOC, DPF and DEF and what does it do?
- DOC stands for Diesel oxidation catalyst, which oxidises the harmful gases like unburnt hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide to less harmful gases.
- DPF stands for Diesel Particulate Filter, which traps the soot (carbon) released from engine exhaust and emits cleaner emissions. A central aspect of all contemporary diesel engines, a DPF traps and retains soot and other minute particulates formed in burning fuel.
- DEF stands for Diesel Exhaust Fluid. It helps in reducing harmful nitrogen oxide gases from the machine by converting the harmful gas into nitrogen and water vapor.
Is there any special fuel required for Stage 5 machines?
Yes. BS 6 Ultra-low sulphur (less than 10 PPM) diesel fuel is mandatory for all Stage 5 machines which are available on all retail outlets / fuel filling stations of India.
Is there any special engine oil required for Stage 5 machines?
JCB recommends JCB Genuine CK-4 engine oil specifically engineered for all Stage 5 engines to get the optimum performance and efficiency of the engine. Although for colder climates there is different engine oil's, so please get in touch with your local service dealership for more details.
How is the machine engine designed to meet Stage 5 regulation?
To meet Stage 5 emissions the engine is equipped with special FIE system, Air Induction system, electronic control system and exhaust management system which ensures the pollutants going out of the engine is within the prescribed limits as per government regulations.
What specific farm operations benefit from using telehandlers?
Telehandlers are beneficial in various farm operations including:
- Biogas Production: Handling feedstock materials and maintaining a clean environment.
- Sugar Mills: Managing bagasse and enhancing productivity.
- Livestock Farms: Moving feed, bedding, heavy bales, and cleaning pens.
- Horticulture and Orchard Management: Pruning, harvesting, and plant maintenance with specialized attachments.
