The JCB Academy | Developing engineers and business leaders of the future

Welcome to The JCB Academy

The JCB Academy is due to open in September 2010 for students aged between 14 and 19 from Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Derbyshire and Derby City. We will offer a well-rounded education, specialising in Diplomas in Engineering, Manufacturing and Global Business Studies, along with the National Curriculum entitlement.

The JCB Academy is to be based in Rocester, in a sympathetically renovated and extended, grade 2 listed mill, where work is already under way to create a light, airy and eco-friendly building that is designed for 21st century education. Power for our building will be provided by our own turbine, driven by the original mill race.

Our main industrial sponsor is JCB, which, despite being one of the world’s most successful manufacturers of construction equipment, remains a family-run business, with strong family values.

The JCB Academy will embrace similar values, offering a caring, challenging environment with a modern leadership structure that is well resourced to promote independent learning.

Our industrial partners
This JCB initiative is welcomed and supported by many other manufacturing and engineering international businesses from the area – including Rolls Royce and Toyota

Our educational partners
The JCB Academy local partner schools are:
Thomas Alleynes School (13-19 years)
Burton College (Further Education College)
Harper Adams University College (Higher Education)

In addition, JCB has close liaison with 40+ schools (Primary, Middle and Secondary levels) from across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Derbyshire. The company provides a range of cross-curricular activities across all ages and provision for work-related experience weeks for year 10 students.
