JCB TRANSMISSIONS WELCOMES NEW YEAR WITH WREXHAM 10K SPONSORSHIP

Wrexham's JCB Transmissions donation to 10K race - News

Wrexham's JCB Transmissions is hitting the ground running, quite literally, with a New Year community sponsorship.

The company based at Wrexham Industrial Estate is donating £6,000 to the new Wrexham 10K race which is expected to attract up to 1,000 runners to the town’s streets for both elite and fun-run races on Sunday, April 21st.

And keen runners from JCB Transmissions are already in training to join racers and fun runners at the starting line for the picturesque city centre and surrounding Clwyd countryside route.

We employ more than 500 people at our Wrexham factories and we are delighted to give something back to the community where so many of our people live and work. The Wrexham 10k will be a fantastic event that really promotes health and wellbeing across the town and beyond.

“What really sets it apart is that it is open to everyone whether you are a serious runner, want a New Year target to kickstart your fitness, to raise funds for charity or just run for fun – and we will be playing our part with up to 50 JCB runners in the race.”

Event organiser, Alan Lewis of Adrenaline Sporting Events said: “We are thrilled to welcome JCB on board as title sponsors of the Wrexham 10k and we look forward to seeing a large team of JCB employees at the start line of what should be a cracking day for the whole city. The route starts from Queen’s Square, with city centre roads closed off for the day. We expect the front runners will be competitive and quick on what is quite a challenging course, but this is a race for everyone - it’s about getting the community involved and undoubtedly raising a lot of money for local charities.”

There will be 22 trophies up for grabs on the day for the top three male and female athletes along with age group winners in five-year categories between 40 and 80-years-old. In addition, all participants will receive a Welsh Dragon embossed medal.

The Welsh Athletics endorsed race is open to all runners over the age of 15.
