JCB SHEDS LIGHT ON BIG FUEL SAVINGS WITH NEW LED MODEL

JCB Power Products today announced the launch of a new LED lighting tower which offers customers 50% fuel savings.

The brand new LT9 LED model uses the same 3 cylinder Yanmar engine as the standard LT9, along with the latest LED technology. This enables the LT9 LED tower to run for 50% longer than the standard LT9 on a single tank of fuel due to the reduced power requirement for the LED lights

New features on the LT9 LED include:
· Low noise levels of 87LwA or 62dBa at 7m from the 1500rpm Yanmar 3 cylinder engine
· Integrated electronic timer
· 5KW of auxiliary power available even when the LEDs are lit.

Director and General Manager of JCB Power Products Jonathan Garnham, said: “With fuel costs becoming an increasing priority for our customers, the LT9 LED offers a fantastic solution with its ability to run 50% longer than the standard model. The new LED model is of heavy duty specification and with more durable LED lamps it is the ultimate rental product.

“The new LED lighting solution complements JCB’s lighting tower range, giving a choice between maximum lit area with the more powerful metal halide bulb unit and the efficiency and durability of the LED unit.”

The new LT9 LED model is compact and lightweight and weighs just 1100Kg with a full tank of fuel, providing a great lighting solution for multiple site applications.

While the standard LT9 uses four 1000W metal halide bulbs, the new LT9 LED is equipped with six 240W LED lamps providing a total output of 180,000 lumens.  Each lamp can be individually adjusted for angle and rotation, to provide clear, direct light to suit any application.  The LED lamps have the added benefit of supplying instant illumination, with no requirements for warm up or cool down of the lamps.

With no glass or bulbs to replace and a high resistance to breakage, LED technology is a natural choice for mobile models such as the JCB lighting tower range.  In fact the life of expectancy of the LEDs is up to 50,000 hours, so they will last the life of the machine. The LED lamps require considerably less power, resulting in lower fuel use and a longer run time on a single tank of fuel, and as they have no fine filaments in the lights, they also eliminate the cost and inconvenience caused by failures of the metal halide bulbs that can easily happen from transport vibration while being delivered to site.

The added benefit from the use of LEDs combined with the 1.1ltr engine is that even when all the lamps are on, there is still up to 5kVA of power available for the external sockets to power up to two more LED lighting towers.  As JCB uses an AVR controlled alternator, as opposed to a capacitor controlled unit, the electrical output is very stable,  making it ideal for all applications including audio visual or computer equipment, which means this machine is perfect for events and security applications as well as construction.

New to JCB’s lighting tower range is the integrated electronic timer. The new LT9 LED model will include a seven day timer as standard, extending run time and allowing the unit to be fully automatic. This will help improve efficiency by ensuring the unit only runs when required, as well as reducing maintenance and associated costs.
