Manager - Finished Machine Distribution UK - Rocester Ref: SAL 429
A vacancy has arisen for the position of Manager – Finished Machine Distribution within Group Transport and Logistics, JCB Sales, reporting to General Manager – Group Transport and Logistics. This replacement is necessary in order to ensure a continued, timely, cost-effective and streamlined despatch and worldwide delivery of UK built machines. This challenging role also includes supporting negotiations with existing and new carriers and freight forwarders. This will be a varied role within a busy office environment.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong team spirit and a can-do mentality. We are looking for an individual who is highly organised, enthusiastic, a team player, good communicator and a problem solver. The role will require a high level of flexibility and occasional work outside of normal office hours.

After an initial period where the candidate will get some hands-on training within operations (centrally and locally at the Business Unit), we foresee the candidate taking on full responsibility for JCB’s finished machine distribution from the UK.

Main goals for the candidate include:
•Managing a small team of people and ensuring timely invoicing and despatch of machines
•Monitoring and initiating yard stock reduction initiatives and load optimisation
•Follow-up with service provider on performance, terms and conditions
•Focusing and streamlining on operations within a Healthy and Safe environment

Major operational tasks include:
•Liaising with Manufacturing and Operations on a regular basis regarding queries both from dealers, customers as well as carriers and shipping agents
•Forward planning, but able to react to problems and make decisions to overcome them
•Maintaining an open working relationship and communications with Sales and Operations
•Notifying carriers that orders are ready for collection and arranging transport
•Invoicing of UK and Export orders for despatch
•Preparing shipping documentation
•Delivering transport related cost-saving initiatives
•Publish daily yard analysis reports

We are ideally looking for a candidate with a HND / Degree (or equivalent) in Transport & Logistics and relevant working experience within transport and logistics. Having experience with out of gauge movements, and the respective weight limitations within an international environment is definitely seen as an advantage. The right candidate needs to be a competent user of Excel, Word, and other major office applications and data management tools. Being Multi-lingual in any other European language would be an extra and valuable asset.

We require a flexible and dedicated individual with good analytical, managerial and organisational skills. This self-starter is service oriented and has a genuine focus on cost control.
