    JCB APPRENTICES SCOOP HONOURS AT NATIONAL AWARDS

    Talented JCB apprentices have scooped top honours in a prestigious competition which tests their engineering skills and practical and academic knowledge. Both Sion Lloyd and Dan Biggs, who both work at JCB Transmissions in Wrexham, notched up first place finishes in the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2013 in a ceremony held at Chester Racecourse. Sion won in “The Outstanding Achievement by a First Year Apprentice Award Wales – Regional Winner” category, while Dan was named “The Outstanding Achievement by a Third Year Apprentice Award – Wales Regional Winner”.

    JCBS 150M PLANS TO CREATE 2500 JOBS WELCOMED BY CHANCELLOR

    JCB today announced plans to invest £150 million to expand its operations in Staffordshire and create an additional 2,500 jobs by 2018, which will in turn add a further 7,500 jobs in the UK supply chain (a recent Oxford Economics study concluded that for every 1 JCB job, there are 3 others in the UK supply chain). To mark today’s announcement, The Chancellor of the Exchequer, The Rt. Hon. George Osborne MP visited JCB’s backhoe loader factory in Rocester, Staffordshire. His visit comes the day after he delivered his Autumn Statement, in which he committed Government funding to unlock economic growth in Staffordshire with a major road improvement project on the A50 trunk road in Uttoxeter.

    DIAMOND YEAR FOR JCB BACKHOE AS COMPANY LOOKS TO FUTURE

    JCB’s iconic backhoe loader today celebrated 60 years in production – with the promise of more exciting innovations to come on a machine that has, literally, helped shape the world. Company founder Joseph Cyril Bamford invented the concept of the backhoe and the first JCB model was manufactured in 1953 after he combined a lightweight backhoe with a Major Loadall tractor loader. It created, for the first time, a single machine which combined a front shovel and rear excavator arm.

    JCB ANNOUNCES $500000 DONATION OF KIT TO PHILIPPINES DISASTER

    British digger maker JCB today responded to the Filipino typhoon disaster with the news that machines and generators worth more than $500,000 are to be provided to assist in the aftermath of the catastrophe. The company is sending a fleet of three 3CX backhoe loaders to help in the clear up operations following Typhoon Haiyan which was one of the most powerful storms ever recorded on land and which has left up to 2,500 people dead. In addition more than 120 JCB electrical generators are being provided through the company’s Filipino dealer Camec.
